Tin Can LRS Endpoint

What is Tin Can?

The Tin Can API makes it possible to collect data from multiple online and offline learning sources and report on and track that data in a meaningful way.

Learner Community lets you upload a Tin Can content package. First, you must first configure an LRS Endpoint (Learning Record Store), similar to the process with LTI activities. You will upload a Tin Can package just like a SCORM or AICC package. You can then configure a Tin Can content package activity to communicate directly with an LRS Endpoint. When the learner launches the activity, all Tin Can statements will be sent directly to the LRS Endpoint (which Learner Community will monitor in order to capture any "completion" statements).

Tin Can vs. SCORM

SCORM stores data only in the LMS--the organization or developers who created the content cannot have access to this data. Tin Can allows data to be pushed to the LRS (anything that you want to track that is written in the content package).

Mobile Devices:

Your learners can use a native app from a development tool or program and use the LRS to play content locally. They will only need an intermittent Internet connection and data will be stored and sent to the LRS when a connection is available.
